Circ, a U.S.-based textile recycling technology company, and Shenghong Chemical Fiber New Materials, a Chinese chemical fiber producer, recently announced a partnership to jointly advance large-scale production of recycled polyester filament from waste textiles. Under the agreement, Shenghong will purchase PET chips produced by Circ from waste textiles and convert them into commercial-scale polyester filament. The partnership aims to elevate textile-to-textile recycling from laboratory or small-scale production to an industrial level, with the potential to increase the use of recycled materials in polyester textiles and thereby reduce reliance on virgin resources. Circ possesses the technology to recover raw materials from discarded textiles and convert them into new fiber feedstock, while Shenghong has large-scale fiber production capacity. The collaboration reflects the textile industry's efforts to build a circular polyester supply chain, turning waste textiles such as discarded clothing into new products.
