A British woman took advantage of free shipping during Vinted's launch in Australia to send 8kg of personal items from the UK to Sydney for just £4.
Beth Hackman, a 25-year-old physiotherapist, traveled with her partner Nathan Riley from Windsor, Berkshire, UK, to Sydney, Australia, in March 2026, a journey of about 10,000 miles. She brought only two large backpacks of clothes but later found she didn't have enough to wear. To avoid buying new clothes or paying high shipping fees, she re-downloaded the Vinted app and discovered the platform was launching in Australia and advertising free shipping on parcels sent from the UK.
So she contacted her mother Mel Belsdon (49, an active Vinted user) via FaceTime, asking her to list her own clothes and buy four parcels at £1 each, with each parcel weighing 2kg, within Vinted's weight limit. All the parcels arrived in Sydney within 9 days.
Beth called it a brilliant method she discovered, because she could picture the clothes she wanted to wear in her wardrobe back home and didn't want to waste money on new ones. When she saw on her phone that Vinted showed the Australia region and indicated free shipping on parcels from the UK, she couldn't believe it and immediately arranged it with her mother. All the clothes arrived just over a week later, right in time for her birthday—perfect.
Vinted has now discontinued the free shipping service in Australia, and the average shipping cost per parcel is now £1.50 (about A$3.03).
