AVEND Co., Ltd. has announced that it will open "NOTIME," its first 24-hour, year-round unmanned secondhand clothing store, in Nagano City, Japan, on September 19, 2026. The store is the first unmanned shop in Nagano City primarily selling secondhand clothing. Customers enter and exit via a LINE-based system and check out self-service, enabling fully unmanned operations throughout the entire process. Positioned as "pick whatever you like, whenever you like," NOTIME focuses on a basic American casual style and aims to blend into the daily lives of local residents.
NOTIME's three main features include: 24-hour operation, a safe unmanned shopping environment powered by the LINE system, and a clear product display strategy. The store selects timeless basic items, emphasizing that they are not constrained by seasons or trends, with a target customer base of men aged 20 to 40. At opening, only cash payments will be accepted, with cashless payment methods such as QR code scanning and ID cards to be introduced gradually. The store is equipped with surveillance cameras and records entry and exit information to ensure security. Reference prices are 4,000 to 6,000 yen for autumn/winter clothing and 3,000 to 5,000 yen for spring/summer clothing; product selection will reduce idiosyncratic or overly casual clothing.
Industry experts point out that as prices rise and the secondhand clothing recycling market continues to expand, secondhand clothing transactions are evolving toward greater convenience. This kind of unmanned store model helps lower the barrier to transactions and cultivate larger-scale everyday consumption habits. This trial also means that the secondhand store format is continuously innovating its business management, and is worth the industry's attention and follow-up.
