On August 23, the Liuxing Huayuan Zone 3 community in Huoying Subdistrict, Changping District, Beijing, together with recycling operator Dangdang Yixia, held a "Jingcai Recycling" centralized drop-off day for recyclables, setting up a convenient recycling point right at residents' doorsteps.

Before the event began, the community had issued notices via residents' WeChat groups, explaining in advance the types of recyclable items accepted, the participation process, and the exchange rules, encouraging residents to sort out idle old clothes, broken small home appliances, and other items. On the day of the event, community staff and Dangdang Yixia service personnel arrived early to set up the point, arrange gifts, and calibrate the weighing equipment. Residents then came to the site one after another with their sorted items, and registration, weighing, sorting, and exchanging proceeded in order, with good on-site order maintained.

The items collected this time were quite diverse. In addition to old clothes and small home appliances, they also included CT films, bicycles, treadmills, and other items that are usually not easy to dispose of. According to event statistics, a total of 200 kg of old clothes, 100 kg of small home appliances, more than 300 CT films, 2 bicycles, and 1 treadmill were recycled. The centralized collection of these idle items reduced the storage burden on residents on the one hand, and also reduced resource waste and the amount of household waste generated on the other.

The service process was handled by the Dangdang Yixia team. Faced with recyclables of various categories and sizes, the staff checked them one by one, sorted them in a standardized way, and weighed them, while also answering residents' questions; for bagged clothes, old home appliances, and large items such as treadmills and bicycles, they also accepted them and handled them afterward. While residents waited, the staff also introduced knowledge about waste sorting and the recycling of old items, helping residents understand the environmental value of dropping items off.

Some residents said that keeping old items at home takes up space, but throwing them away directly feels wasteful. Now they can be recycled right at the community entrance and exchanged for daily necessities, which is both convenient and environmentally friendly.

According to the community, the next step will be to continue cooperating with Dangdang Yixia to promote the regular operation of convenient recycling services and carry out more activities that meet residents' needs, encouraging more residents to participate in the recycling of old items.
