A charity event centered on a birthday and using old clothes as its medium has recently launched. The official fan club of artist Fang Jin has teamed up with the clothing recycling platform "Dangdang Yixia" to jointly launch a clothing recycling charity drive called "Jin Embroiders the Future, Together in Clothes," open to Fang Jin's fan community.
The beneficiaries of the event are the students of E'man Primary School in Gansu. According to the organizers, the children at the school currently lack new stationery, extracurricular reading materials, and other school supplies. The goal of this recycling drive is precisely to convert fans' idle old clothing into these practical necessities.
In terms of the categories accepted, the event is not limited to clothing itself but also includes old bags, plush toys, idle footwear, and extracurricular books. Participants simply need to gather these long-idle items while organizing their wardrobes and submit them together. The event runs from now until October 9.
Regarding logistics and costs, the event rules state that a recycling weight of 3 kilograms or more qualifies for free door-to-door pickup, with participants bearing no costs throughout. After the event ends, the organizers will convert the cumulative recycling weight of all participants into new stationery, extracurricular books, and sports equipment, and deliver them to E'man Primary School in the name of "Fang Jin and all of Fang Jin's fans."
To encourage fan participation, the event also includes a lucky draw: fans who participate in the recycling and leave a screenshot of their certificate in the comments section can enter a draw for 3 autographed photos of Fang Jin. The draw will take place at 10:25 on October 10.
Notably, this event adopts a charity conversion model of "recycling weight exchanged for physical goods" — the old clothes donated by fans are not sent directly to the school but are converted through the recycling platform's measurement system into funds or supplies, which are then used to purchase school supplies in a unified manner. This model has gradually increased in fan charity in recent years and has also brought clothing recycling platforms new scenarios for collaboration with celebrity fan communities.
