Plutou announced on October 1, 2026 the launch of an AI-native operations platform for textile collection companies, integrating route planning, site management, and a driver app into a single system, serving US clothing donation bin networks and European textile bank operators.
Key Points
- The platform was refined with the participation of hundreds of collection operators, integrating three functions: route planning, site management, and driver-side photo confirmation.
- The EU's revised Waste Framework Directive requires all member states to establish textile extended producer responsibility (EPR) schemes, while California's Responsible Textile Recovery Act (SB 707) is entering its implementation phase.
- Beyond textiles, the platform also supports book donation bin networks and pickup programs, with its website at plutou.com.
According to Plutou, textile collectors typically manage hundreds to thousands of collection containers at partner locations such as retail parking lots, churches, and municipal sites, but many companies still rely on paper route sheets, spreadsheets, and messaging apps to coordinate daily operations. The direct problems this creates: it is difficult to determine which containers need servicing; overflowing sites generate complaints and lead to lost partner locations; and frontline staff spend large amounts of time re-entering field data.
Plutou aims to replace this combination of tools with a single system. The route planning function can generate routes for all sites, drivers, and trucks, and automatically adjust when a driver or vehicle is unavailable; the site management function keeps each site's information in one place; and the driver app lets field staff complete stops digitally and confirm job completion with photos.
Plutou co-founder Ben Adelson said collection operators keep clothing out of landfills and keep cities clean, yet have been using tools that were not built for them; the company thought about how collection operations should run ten years from now and built it today.
This launch comes as textile collection faces new regulatory requirements. The EU's revised Waste Framework Directive requires all member states to establish textile EPR schemes, and California's Responsible Textile Recovery Act (SB 707) is also moving toward implementation. Both regulations are expected to drive up collection volumes while raising the data reporting requirements for collectors—a direct reason for growing demand for operations systems.
Beyond textiles, Plutou's platform also supports book donation bin networks and donation pickup programs. The company says its mission is to change the way the world handles waste, and its AI-native operations platform helps collection companies plan routes, manage sites, and carry out field operations within a single system, now serving textile, book, and donation collection networks in the United States and Europe.
