Recently, the "Lu Yao Zhi Ma Li" practical team from Sichuan Agricultural University carried out a public welfare activity collecting old clothes in Wenchang Community, Xindu District, Chengdu, sending hundreds of qualified idle garments to Daliang Mountain for distribution to local left-behind elderly people and families in difficulty. The activity aimed to ease material shortages in the mountainous area while promoting the recycling of idle urban resources.
As a comprehensive urban community, Wenchang Community faces a widespread problem of idle clothing among residents. Meanwhile, some villages in Daliang Mountain still lack cold-weather supplies. Targeting this supply-demand gap, the practical team launched the collection plan on August 10 in cooperation with the community residents' committee. In the early stage, the committee publicized donation standards through multiple channels and guided residents to fully wash and sort their clothes. The practical team strictly regulated acceptance requirements, accepting only clean, intact clothing for all seasons, and confirmed transportation and disinfection details with the Daliang Mountain contact to ensure donations were delivered accurately.
Early that morning, the team set up a donation point in the community square, receiving an enthusiastic response from residents. The clothes donated by residents had all been sorted as required; many parents came with their children, and elderly residents also carefully dug out thick winter clothing. After receiving the items, the team sorted, inspected, and packed them, selecting hundreds of qualified garments. Items that did not meet donation conditions were handed over to environmental recycling agencies to reduce waste. After full disinfection, this batch of charitable supplies traveled hundreds of kilometers to Daliang Mountain and was smoothly distributed to the recipients there, conveying the warmth of a Chengdu community.
Team members said that by participating in the whole process, they deeply felt the weight of public welfare practice and the driving force of small social efforts. The team will further systematically review its experience and continue to pay attention to the needs of Daliang Mountain, so that this old-clothes recycling action can deliver long-term value.
