The annual "2026 Tianjin Clothing Festival" hosted by the Tianjin Road apparel business district in Taichung ran from September 11 to 13, with the street closed from Shanxi Road to Meichuan West Road. Nearly a hundred clothing stores gathered to offer tens of thousands of discounted items, along with a "NT$100 and NT$200 Bargain Special Zone" covering men's and women's wear, Japanese and Korean trendy fashion, gender-neutral casual styles, and workwear accessories.
Lin Min-chi, deputy director-general of the Taichung City Economic Development Bureau, attended on behalf of Mayor Lu Shiow-yen and said this year's Clothing Festival was not just a clothing clearance sale but a weekend lifestyle festival blending everyday dressing, sustainable handicrafts, pet aesthetics, and cultural-creative treasure hunting. Economic Development Bureau Director-General Chang Feng-yuan noted that the Tianjin Road apparel business district has developed for over 20 years and is an important clothing consumption and wholesale hub in Taichung. In recent years, through festival events, merchant collaboration, and diverse consumer experiences, the district has been pushing for transformation, gradually shifting from a traditional clothing street toward an urban commercial district combining shopping, leisure, and cultural life.
District chairman Chang Sheng-ming introduced that, to meet back-to-school and seasonal change demand, tens of thousands of discounted items were offered this year, hoping that office workers, students, and families could all buy seasonal clothing at affordable prices.
The event featured several interactive activities, including the "Four Taels Into a Thousand Gold" timed 200-yuan bag-stuffing challenge and the "Dress Up Your Pet with Love" pet fashion bandana handmade experience. Popular IP "Pig Cat Drama Lab" was also invited to create a cultural-creative market, bringing together handmade crafts, stylish accessories, and original designs to showcase the lifestyle aesthetics of pairing clothing with accessories.
The Economic Development Bureau added that this year's Clothing Festival brought together three major elements for the first time: seasonal clothing, old-clothing upcycling, and a cultural-creative market. The old-clothing upcycling combined the booming pet economy with sustainable concepts, with professional artisans teaching on site so that people could turn idle clothes into fashionable pet bandanas by hand, creating one-of-a-kind accessories.
During the event, spending NT$100 in the special sale zone earned a raffle number. On the closing day, an online livestream will be held on the Tianjin Road apparel business district's Facebook fan page to draw prizes including LCD TVs, refrigerators, and other home appliances, as well as many other items.
