From April 24 to 25, 2026, the old clothes recycling platform Dangdang Yixia partnered with the Hangzhou Women's Half Marathon, setting up an environmental recycling booth in the pre-race packet pickup area at the South Square of the Zhejiang Exhibition Hall. Runners and residents could hand in idle old clothes while collecting their race materials, and the online booking channel was also opened simultaneously.

There were two ways to participate: first, book door-to-door recycling online in advance and present the order screenshot on site to receive an environmental certificate; second, bring clothes directly to the booth and hand them to staff. Recycled old clothes were not limited by brand, condition, or season, as long as they were clean and not seriously damaged. Those who completed recycling on site could receive an exclusive physical environmental certificate, take photos in front of the themed installation and share them on social platforms, and also receive a limited-edition transparent card souvenir.

According to the final event statistics, a total of 252 kg of old clothes were collected over the two days, equivalent to a carbon reduction of 868 kg; all 300 physical environmental certificates were given out, and another 100 custom transparent cards were distributed free through social media check-in interactions. Recycled clothes were valued at 0.5 yuan per kilogram, and the platform purchased equivalent brand-new supplies to donate directly to paired primary schools, turning idle clothes into help for children while reducing landfill pollution from discarded clothing through standardized processing.

On the backend of recycling, the platform has a sorting system: high-quality clothes that meet wearable standards are cleaned and disinfected before flowing to the second-hand market to extend their service life; waste textiles that no longer have wearable value are sent to professional factories for fiber regeneration, turning them into automotive soundproof cotton, agricultural insulation blankets, or industrial heat energy, achieving closed-loop resource utilization.

In terms of business model, Dangdang Yixia builds a digital circular chain with "one-click booking at the front end, efficient logistics in the middle, and fine sorting at the back end." It aggregates scattered household demand through the platform and then uses third-party express networks to complete centralized reverse logistics, representing a light-asset, strongly controlled internet recycling path. At present, its old clothes recycling price is 0.5–1.0 yuan/kg, and door-to-door service covers most provinces and cities nationwide.

Commentary: Events have large crowds and participants with strong environmental willingness. Embedding recycling points into the packet pickup process is equivalent to borrowing the sports scenario to acquire customers for old clothes recycling and complete public education; combined with online booking and certificate incentives, this kind of cross-sector cooperation is becoming a replicable path for recycling platforms to enter urban public spaces, and it also provides a new offline entry point for incremental sources of old clothes.
