Secondhand clothing trading platform Vinted experienced a service disruption in the US region, with a large number of users reporting that the app would not open. According to outage tracking site Downdetector, problem reports began to cluster from around 3:25 PM Eastern Time on Monday, with most users describing the app getting stuck on the loading page; by 3:50 PM, the platform had received more than 1,000 outage reports.
The cause of the outage is currently unclear. Notably, Vinted's official website operated normally during this period, and the issue appears to be concentrated mainly on the mobile app.
Many users vented their frustration on social media. Someone wrote on X that the Vinted outage cost her the chance to pass the evening by scrolling through the app, and joked that this terrible Monday had gained yet another reason to fall apart. Others described their restlessness by repeatedly opening and closing Pinterest and Vinted. Some users complained that the app crashes too frequently and hoped the platform would fix it as soon as possible; others exaggeratedly said this was the worst moment of their lives.
Public information shows that Vinted is an online marketplace for users to buy and sell secondhand clothing, accessories, and other secondhand items. It was founded in Lithuania in 2008 and currently operates in multiple countries, including the United States, with users completing transactions through its app and website.
For the resale industry, the stability of leading platforms directly affects the trading experience and user retention of both buyers and sellers. Although the duration and scope of impact of this US app outage remain to be verified, it once again shows that platform technical operations capability is becoming a basic metric in competition among secondhand e-commerce players.
