Since the beginning of this year, Guizhou's textile and apparel industry has gained rapid momentum driven by leading projects. It has been disclosed that in the first half of the year, investment in the province's textile and apparel industry increased by 116.9% year-on-year, and the added value of textile industry above designated size grew by 32.2%. The 11 textile projects that have already landed are planned to form an annual output value of about 10 billion yuan after fully reaching production in 2027.

The starting point of this round of layout is the intensive settlement of leading enterprises. At the beginning of this year, representatives of 11 textile and apparel enterprises from across the country, including Shanghai Metersbonwe, Shanghai Dragon Corporation, and Zhejiang Sanxing Down, received business licenses for their Guizhou companies, planning to implement full-industry-chain projects in segments such as ready-made garments, home textiles, and fabrics, with an investment scale of about 2.3 billion yuan. Among them, Metersbonwe's intelligent manufacturing base in Dafang County, with an investment of 1 billion yuan and an annual output of 30 million down jackets, took only a very short time from its first inspection in November last year to the decision at the second inspection and then to signing; 60 days after signing, the transitional factory began construction.

What the leaders bring is not only production capacity. Li Xiaobo, deputy general manager of Guizhou Meibang Clothing Technology Co., Ltd., introduced that after the project landed, it has cultivated local printing, embroidery, and denim washing supporting partners in Bijie, changing the previous situation of relying on supporting facilities in Guangdong and achieving a "zero breakthrough" in local supporting facilities. The company started trial production on March 9 this year and officially began operations on April 15. The transitional factory has built 3 cutting workshops and 1 training workshop, and 13 production lines across five major sectors—knitting, denim, woven pants, and down—have been fully put into production, with an expected annual output value exceeding 100 million yuan; the newly built factory is expected to be put into use before the Spring Festival next year. Around Meibang's upstream and downstream, the local area plans to attract about 5 more supporting enterprises this year, and underwear and apparel companies have already signed contracts and started production.

Structural problems are being resolved link by link. Guizhou has long suffered from the shortcomings of "yarn but no fabric, fabric but no dyeing," with fabrics and gray goods mostly transferred in from outside the province, resulting in high logistics and time costs. Guizhou Hongsheng Light Textile Group, a key introduction in Bijie, is expanding upstream and mid-to-downstream. Its chief executive Yu Lulin said that at this stage the company only does weaving, and gray goods still need to be transported to Zhejiang and Fujian for dyeing and printing; Hongsheng's dyeing and printing project in Bijie High-tech Zone has obtained environmental impact assessment approval. Once completed, gray goods can be dyed and finished locally, and comprehensive costs are expected to drop by about 30%.

The magnetic effect of leading enterprises is also evident in counties. Bijie Jinghuang Garment Co., Ltd. in Bijie Nayong Economic Development Zone had an output value of 840 million yuan in 2025 and is expected to exceed 1 billion yuan this year. Its supporting enterprises have followed: Dongguan Xiongtai Renewable Resources Co., Ltd. followed Jinghuang to Nayong to build a scrap recycling production line; Guizhou Pengcheng Packaging Co., Ltd. built a factory at the end of 2024 on Jinghuang's recommendation, expanding its plant area from 1,700 square meters to about 5,000 square meters, with monthly output value reaching 700,000 to 800,000 yuan at full production. In Duyun, Guizhou Shenglong Clothing Co., Ltd. has had saturated orders since it began production in July 2025, shipping on average 3 times per week, with foreign trade accounting for 20%, and products sold to markets such as Japan, South Korea, and India; 21 Medical Technology has started 5 home textile production lines and carries out outsourcing cooperation with more than 20 enterprises, 8 of which are local enterprises.

In terms of layout, Guizhou is shifting from undertaking scattered orders to provincial-level coordination. Sang Tong, associate professor at Guizhou Minzu University, believes that relying on Guizhou Textile Group, the chain-leading enterprise, to strengthen links such as dyeing and printing and fabrics and to integrate dispersed production entities is the core change in this round of industrial rise. According to the provincial textile group's "15th Five-Year Plan," the province will lay out "1+9" ten major industrial bases, with four bases in Gui'an, Duyun, Sansui, and Dafang already launched first. In response to the dyeing and printing shortcoming, the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, together with relevant regions, is planning dyeing and finishing projects in Nayong, Xifeng, Anlong, and other places, among which the Nayong Huasheng textile dyeing and printing project is accelerating preliminary procedures; at the same time, a mechanism led by department leaders is being established to promote regular research and services for key projects, and special fiscal funds are being coordinated to support projects such as Guizhou Xinhao Linen's 6,000-ton-per-year linen textile production line.

For the used clothing trade and recycled textile and apparel industry, Guizhou's filling of the dyeing, printing, and fabric links and its inclusion of scrap recycling enterprises in local supporting facilities mean that the west may form a new supply node combining manufacturing and export capabilities, and the coastal supporting pattern and flow of recycled raw materials may adjust accordingly.
