On Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26, the fourth edition of "From Waste to Good Taste" (FWGT), a sustainable design experience organized by the Egyptian Clothing Bank (ECB), will be held at The Factory on Al Nabrawi Street in downtown Cairo. The event runs from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, with tickets available online.

According to the organizers, FWGT reorganizes the donated waste ECB receives—from intact garments to offcuts and scraps—into a curated material system, classified by color, texture, and pattern, and presents the journey of each item from repair to distribution. In other words, donated clothing deemed unsuitable for rewearing will be given new forms of presentation in the exhibition.

Beyond the material display, the event also features curated art installations, hands-on workshops, and a shopping zone from Almah.

For the used-clothing and textile recycling industry, this event offers a perspective to observe: donated items that can no longer be worn do not have to enter only the downcycling channel. Through sorting, design, and remaking, they can still become products with display and commercial value, providing a reference sample for refined sorting and creative reuse in the recycling process.
