Korean fashion platform Musinsa has announced it will shut down its limited-edition trading platform Soldout and fully merge its resale business into "MUSINSA USED," launched in August 2024, with the related service terminating on December 31, 2026.
Key Points
- Soldout will end service on December 31, 2026, with its fashion resale trading functions transferred to MUSINSA USED.
- MUSINSA USED's transaction volume in June 2026 grew about 10x compared with its early launch period in September 2025, with sellers up about 30x and listed items up about 6.7x.
- Musinsa absorbed and merged Soldout's former operating subsidiary SLDT in 2025.
According to industry sources, the core logic behind Musinsa's adjustment is the shrinking market for limited-edition person-to-person (C2C) trading. Soldout originally focused on C2C matching for limited-edition goods, but related transaction volumes have continued to decline recently, so the company will no longer maintain a separate platform for limited editions and will instead concentrate its resale business resources on MUSINSA USED, which covers general secondhand apparel.
Another factor driving the integration comes from MUSINSA USED's own growth. In June 2026, the service's transaction volume expanded about 10x compared with its early launch period in September 2025; over the same period, the number of sellers grew about 30x and the number of listed items grew about 6.7x. Compared with a resale model centered on limited editions, secondhand fashion covering a broader range of categories is seen as having greater growth potential.
The organizational groundwork was laid as early as 2025 — Musinsa absorbed and merged Soldout's operating subsidiary SLDT. The experience Soldout accumulated in operating and managing C2C services will be transplanted to MUSINSA USED, which plans to expand its trading scope from Korean domestic designer brands to limited-edition items from well-known overseas brands, becoming a secondhand fashion platform with a broader category range.
Regarding Soldout's former staff, Musinsa said it is studying plans to maintain employment, and will consider assigning them to platform- and resale-related organizations based on employees' professional capabilities and career development space. Although the platform is shutting down, its operational experience and personnel will continue to serve the resale business centered on MUSINSA USED.
Musinsa said that MUSINSA USED has grown rapidly since launching in August 2024, and this decision reflects no longer limiting itself to trading among a niche limited-edition audience, but rather aligning with the circular economy trend of creating new value through secondhand goods; the company will adopt a strategy of selection and concentration in the resale sector to pursue sustained growth.
For the old clothing and secondhand fashion industry, this move shows that a leading fashion e-commerce player is shifting resource allocation from high-priced limited-edition resale toward the broader circulation of everyday secondhand apparel, and the narrative of the circular economy and extending the lifespan of clothing is becoming a platform-level strategy.
