This ranking was compiled by TUI and is called the "TUI Vintage City Index 2026," covering more than 3,100 European cities. The assessment is based on data collected from Google Maps in July 2026, combining the number of stores and average Google ratings, converted into a 100-point "vintage city score." Cities with insufficient data were not included in the ranking.

Among French cities, Paris has a clear lead at the top, ranking first in both France and Europe, with 779 stores recorded and a score of 96. Although London leads with 1,014 stores, it scores 95 and ranks second in Europe; Berlin ranks third with 435 stores and 89 points. Rome (396 stores), Madrid (389), Milan (305), Barcelona (278), Amsterdam (241), Budapest (250), and Vienna (231) entered Europe's top ten in that order.

In the French domestic ranking, after Paris comes Saint-Ouen, which, thanks to its famous flea market, ranks 19th in Europe with 111 stores; Marseille ranks 24th in Europe with 101 stores; Lyon ranks 31st with 93 stores; Bordeaux ranks 41st with 72 stores; Toulouse follows closely behind, ranking 42nd in Europe with 78 stores. The French cities after that include Nantes (48th, 61 stores), Rennes (59th, 42 stores), Strasbourg (60th, 48 stores), and Balaruc-les-Bains (83rd, 3 stores).

Toulouse's vintage and second-hand shopping hotspots are concentrated in specific neighborhoods, such as Carmes, place de la Bourse, and rue de la Concorde, which are regarded as go-to areas for hunting vintage pieces.

It is worth noting that although Toulouse has concentrated stores in areas such as the place du Palais district, its 78 stores are more than Bordeaux's 72 and Nantes's 61, yet it still ranks below Bordeaux, which has fewer stores. This reflects the fact that the scoring system also incorporates the average Google rating of the stores.

For the second-hand clothing industry, this index provides a quantitative reference for the density of second-hand retail in major European cities. French cities occupy 27 places in the top 100, showing their position in Europe's second-hand fashion landscape.
