The European textile recycling industry organization ReHubs has appointed Béatrice Moureaux as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding interim CEO Robert van de Kerkhof, who will continue as Board Chair and remain involved during the transition period. Moureaux has served as an advisor to the ReHubs Board since December 2025 and brings over 25 years of experience in technical textiles, advanced fibers, nonwovens, and circular innovation. Her appointment comes at a critical stage when Europe's textile circular transition faces a supply-demand standoff.

Key Points

  • ReHubs appoints Béatrice Moureaux as CEO, succeeding interim CEO Robert van de Kerkhof, who stays on as Board Chair.
  • Moureaux has been a ReHubs Board advisor since December 2025 and has over 25 years of experience in technical textiles, advanced fibers, and circular innovation.
  • A recent ReHubs and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) report focuses on the economics of textile-to-textile recycling and the conditions needed to attract investment and build European capacity.

Moureaux's appointment is announced as Europe's textile circular transition hits a structural bottleneck. Despite continuous technological progress and growing policy ambition, the conditions for scaling textile-to-textile recycling remain difficult. Recyclers need clearer demand signals to invest in capacity, while brands need reliable and competitive supply of recycled fibers to commit to larger purchase volumes. ReHubs' strategy is built around breaking this supply-demand standoff. As a membership-based organization, it brings together leading institutions across the textile value chain to strengthen collaboration, improve investment conditions, and support the establishment of a viable textile-to-textile recycling industry in Europe.

Moureaux said she is deeply proud to take on the CEO role at such an important moment for ReHubs and the industry, that the road ahead is full of challenges, and that breaking the supply-demand standoff requires open collaboration across the value chain and the right investment conditions; ReHubs has a strong organizational community committed to driving this transition, and she looks forward to continuing to work with and support its members.

Kasper Damsø, Co-Chair of ReHubs and of NewRetex, noted that technologies now exist that can improve how textiles are sorted and recycled, but technology alone cannot create a circular system—every part of the value chain must develop in concert. ReHubs' important role is to connect these different parts and help turn individual solutions into a functioning ecosystem. He said Moureaux understands both the technical realities and the importance of bringing people together.

The recent report published by ReHubs and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) focuses in particular on the economics of textile-to-textile recycling and the conditions needed to attract investment and build capacity in Europe, including working with members to study where targeted interventions can help create a viable market for recycled textiles.

Véronique Allaire Spitzer, Co-Chair of ReHubs and of Refashion, believes that European textile circularity is at a turning point, that EPR (extended producer responsibility) is a powerful lever for turning ambition into action, but that its success depends on practical solutions and close value-chain collaboration. As a pioneer producer responsibility organization (PRO) with more than 15 years of experience in the industry, Refashion knows well the importance of bringing stakeholders together to build a truly circular textile industry, and ReHubs can play this role at the European level. She said Moureaux is familiar with the organization and its members, and she is delighted to see her lead ReHubs into its next phase.

During his tenure as interim CEO, Robert van de Kerkhof strengthened ReHubs' focus on the structural and economic barriers to scaling textile-to-textile recycling and expanded its engagement in Europe's textile circular ecosystem. As Board Chair, he will continue to support ReHubs and work closely with Moureaux through the transition. He said the past few years have made clear that scaling textile-to-textile recycling is not something any single technology or organization can accomplish alone, and that ReHubs has helped put the hardest issues of economics, investment, and scale on the industry agenda; Moureaux brings deep industry expertise and leadership to ReHubs, he has full confidence in her, and he looks forward to supporting her and the ReHubs team in building on the existing foundation to move the organization forward.
