As autumn and winter approach, Uni-President Enterprises Social Welfare Foundation continues to promote the "Clothes of Love" secondhand goods donation campaign, which is now in its 16th year. The campaign calls on group employees to sort out idle clothing and books at home. After nearly two months of collection, sorting, and packing, approximately 19,000 items of clothing and 2,400 secondhand books were ultimately gathered.
In terms of participation, a total of 19 companies under Uni-President Enterprises Group responded this year, including employees from President Chain Store, Uni-President Industrial, Great Wall Enterprise, Taiwan神隆, Uni-President Precision, and President Marketing, among others, who all joined the collection effort, with 24 charity collection stations set up within the group. Many employees not only sorted out well-preserved secondhand clothing from their homes but also proactively donated brand-new clothing, carefully categorizing items by season, gender, and type so that recipients could use them directly.
Foundation Director-General Tu Chung-cheng stated that the collected supplies were first assisted by Tainan Hui-An Rehabilitation Home with unpacking, sorting, and categorizing, and then redistributed according to the actual needs of each social welfare group. Recipient organizations include 16 after-school tutoring classes in remote areas, as well as Tainan City Ruifu Intellectual Development Center, Eden Social Welfare Foundation, Chiayi Sacred Heart Early Intervention Center, and Hualien County Xiulin Township Little Sun Care Association, totaling 30 social welfare NPOs.
This year, the initiative also extended beyond Taiwan. The foundation cooperated with Step30 International Christian Care Association to collect 15 bags of summer clothing, backpacks, and sneakers for Africa, transforming secondhand supplies into cross-border care. The cardboard boxes needed for packing the supplies were sponsored by Tong Yi Packaging, while delivery was handled by President Transnet Black Cat Home Delivery, linking different resources within the enterprise to complete a charitable relay from collection and sorting to delivery.
Uni-President Enterprises Social Welfare Foundation has been established for more than 48 years and has long been devoted to emergency relief, services for people with disabilities, disadvantaged students, medical care, child care, and elderly care. "Clothes of Love" starts from idle items around employees. In addition to material donations, it also allows clothing and books that might otherwise be discarded to find new users, continuing to convey care while cherishing resources and reducing waste.
