Recently, during the economic responsibility audit of key leading officials of the Kunshan Civil Affairs Bureau in Jiangsu Province, the Kunshan Audit Bureau listed the operation and management of the "Old Clothes, New Journey" public welfare project as a key focus. Jointly initiated by the Kunshan Civil Affairs Bureau, the Kunshan Charity Federation, and other organizations, this project is a flagship charitable initiative in the local area.
The audit team focused on verifying whether the project's material reception, sorting, and disposal procedures were standardized and transparent, and whether the collection and use of funds from charity sales and environmental processing were compliant. Auditors also visited the site to inspect the sorting workflow for donated materials firsthand.
The Kunshan Audit Bureau stated that it hopes to ensure every charitable donation is properly handled and used through audit oversight, truly delivering results and supporting the healthy development of the city's charitable endeavors.
For the old clothing recycling industry, this measure indicates that full-chain management of secondhand clothing through charitable channels is attracting increasing attention from local governments. Standardized sorting and fund supervision will help enhance public trust in clothing donations and promote the long-term development of charitable recycling models.
